Gloucester County's art lives close to home, from Rowan University's galleries in Glassboro to the old glassmaking towns and main streets around them. A town-by-town guide.
In this article
Gloucester County is South Jersey’s third-largest by number of municipalities, a patchwork of twenty-four townships, boroughs and the city of Woodbury spread across old glassmaking towns and college streets. Its art lives close to home, in Rowan University’s galleries at Glassboro, in Pitman’s lovingly restored 1920s theatre, and in the working studios tucked among the antique shops of Mullica Hill. What follows is a guide to those spaces, gathered town by town.
A quick note: opening hours, locations, websites and programming can change over time. Please confirm the details with each venue before you plan your visit.

Gloucester County rewards the reader willing to wander past the highway. Its galleries, theatres and studios sit inside old glassworks towns and along walkable main streets, close enough to string together in a single afternoon. Next in the series we cross into a neighbouring county and keep the map growing, one town at a time.
