Guest Content

Effective October 2026  ·  creartivitymagazine.com

CreARTivity Magazine welcomes contributions from artists, curators, educators, researchers and cultural workers who have something to say about arts, cultures and creativity. This page explains what we publish from guest authors, what a guest article costs and how to propose a piece.

Guest articles are a paid service: contributors pay a flat fee of $100 per article. The fee covers editing and publication. It does not buy editorial influence, and every guest article is labelled as contributed content.

01 What we publish

We publish guest essays, reflections from artists on their own practice, explainers written by specialists, reviews of exhibitions, books and performances, and reports on cultural initiatives in Haiti, the Caribbean, New Jersey and the wider world. Pieces may be written in English, French, Spanish or Haitian Creole.

Poems and short stories are published separately in the Podium, our open section for creative writing.

02 What we do not publish

Guest content is editorial content, not advertising. We do not accept articles written to promote a product, service or paid event, and the fee does not change that. Organisations that wish to promote their work can do so through a clearly labelled Sponsored Article.

We do not publish work that has already appeared elsewhere, including on the author’s own site, unless we agree to it in advance. We do not publish writing that incites violence or hatred.

03 Editorial standards

Guest authors are held to the same standards as our own writers, set out in our Editorial Policy. Facts must be accurate and sources available on request. Authors must disclose any personal, financial or professional connection to the people, institutions or works they write about. Any use of AI tools must be disclosed, as set out in our AI Policy.

04 Editing

Every guest piece is edited by the CreARTivity editorial team. We may shorten a piece, change its headline or ask for revisions. We send the edited version to the author before publication. Once published, a guest piece is corrected under our Editorial Policy.

05 Images

Images supplied with a guest piece must belong to the author or come with written permission from the rights holder, and must be credited. Where no suitable image is available, the editorial team will choose one.

06 Fee, credit and rights

Guest authors keep the copyright in their work and grant CreARTivity the right to publish it, translate it into our publishing languages and share it on our channels. Each piece carries the author’s name, a short biography and one link to the author’s own site or portfolio. Because the author pays a fee, that link carries a sponsored tag and the article is marked as contributed content, in line with our Editorial Policy and the disclosure rules that apply to paid content.

The fee is $100 per article, paid once, in US dollars, by card through Stripe. A translation of the piece into another of our publishing languages can be added for $75. Payment does not guarantee publication: we only publish pieces that meet our standards. If we decline a piece after you have paid, we refund the fee in full.

07 How to propose a piece

Send a short pitch to submissions@creartivitymagazine.com with the subject line “Guest content”. Tell us what the piece is about, why it matters now, the language you will write in, the approximate length, and a few lines about yourself with links to earlier work. Please do not send a finished article, and do not pay anything, until we have agreed on the idea. Once we accept your pitch we will send you a secure payment link. Editing begins when the payment is received.

We read every pitch. We aim to reply within three weeks; if you have not heard from us by then, the piece is free to go elsewhere.
