Lenape Green Corn Festival Honors Native Heritage in Cape May

This event has taken place. It was held on 15 August 2026 in West Cape May.

On August 15, Rea’s Farm Market in West Cape May hosted the Lenape Green Corn Festival, a celebration that honors the area’s original inhabitants and their agricultural heritage. Free and open to the public, the gathering featured Native dancers, singers, crafts, storytelling, and food, and invited visitors to learn about the Three Sisters of corn, beans, and squash. It stands as one of the Garden State’s most meaningful tributes to the people indigenous to the region and the traditions they continue to keep alive.

Corrected on 2 October 2026. An earlier version of this article said the festival marks a treaty signing and the end of a river journey, and it did not give a location. Those two claims could not be confirmed and were removed, and the festival was held at Rea’s Farm Market, 400 Stevens Street, West Cape May.
